This painting is a self-portrait, a vulnerable depiction of agitation and restlessness of the body and mind. Moss and lichen act as textural symbols for discomfort and unease. My inspiration was an inability to relax or sit still during moments alone with my thoughts, and the internal pressure and entanglement that ensues. The circular canvas lends itself to the claustrophobic nature of this state of mind.
